Our Story

We Relocate You Canada.

Immigrant Founded, Family Run

In 1996, our founder, Kai Hansen, taught himself web design in his small apartment on Gorge Road in Victoria, British Columbia. A year later he launched the first comprehensive online guide to moving and relocation dedicated to Canada from that same apartment.

An electrician by trade and a Danish military veteran, Kai immigrated his family to Calgary, Alberta from Bulawayo, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) 21 years earlier. He knew the pitfalls of moving across town, cross-country and internationally and shared his knowledge and tips for moving (with military efficiency!) to help reduce the stress for others during their moves.

Kai's famous checklists, city profiles and advice grew to include 5 books about Canadian cities aimed at newcomers, co-authored with Janet Auty-Carlisle.

The first in Relocation

Relocate Canada was the first relocation website dedicated to providing online information and services for people moving in, to and from Canada. We are a family run business that knows relocation and moving, our family has collectively relocated 39 times to 16 cities in 6 countries for work and military service.
